Paul Davis and Affordable Construction Company have deep roots in the SE Michigan & NW Ohio region
Paul was born in Southeast Michigan, started his construction career here, raised his family, opened his business and continues to have what some may be called a love affair with the region. From the big cities to the small towns, from the meandering rivers to Lake Erie the region is in his blood.
Paul was drawn to the construction industry, and by the late 70s and early 80s, he had a small business building sheds for the homeowners of the region. In the 80s he went to work for some quality contractors and was hungry to expand his construction skills and learn more about how successful contractors ran their businesses. In 1990 he took the plunge and started Affordable Construction Company and has never looked back.
The four cornerstones and values on which Affordable Construction Company has been built
- Treat the customer like family. Paul has always believed that if he goes the extra mile to help customers solve their construction issues rather than just sell to them, that he would develop a long-term relationship with them. This philosophy has enabled Affordable to develop many repeat and multi-generational customers as well as a healthy referral business.
- Aim to exceed the customer’s expectations at every phase of the project. This goes hand-in-hand with treating customers like family. Affordable is dedicated to listening to what the client wants – delivering it and more.
- Clarifying the customer’s dreams and bringing them to life. Early in his career, Paul Davis realized he had the ability to carefully listen to his client’s vision and designing and building the project that brought the vision to life. In this process, he gets into the nitty gritty of how the customer sees their project from an aesthetic point of view. Then he gets into how they plan to use it and live in it. He takes into account furniture and appliances and begins the complicated process of sketching the project. His designs take into account all of these factors as well as a customer’s budget. In the end, be brings dreams to life, with quality materials and craftsmanship all within a budget that is affordable.
- Deliver affordable quality. Paul defines affordable as follows: “A project is not affordable if a contractor cuts corners, uses inferior product and delivers shoddy quality at the lowest price. A deal like this will only cause you to spend more money to correct its shortcomings. I define an affordable value as a project designed properly, with quality products and professional craftsmanship, personal old-school” service, schedules that are maintained. Things are done the first time; correctly and at competitive rates by a company that stands behind its work. At Affordable Construction Co, we start getting a very clear understanding of your wants, dreams, and budget. I will ask questions such as what furniture you want in a new sunroom, lay it out with all of your desires and then design it. Sometimes customers think they need a more massive sunroom or addition then they do, sometimes they need to enlarge it to fit their living needs. Our goal is to help you achieve your dreams affordably – never overselling you or cutting corners.”
These four cornerstones have enabled Affordable Construction Company to grow over the years. They are big enough to tackle any residential or commercial project. They have specialized craftsmen and crews that focus on various projects. One team may focus on roofing, siding, windows, and doors. Another team that specialize in seamless gutters; another specializes in sunrooms and yet another that is expert at additions and basement remodeling. The crews are well-oiled machines; half of the craftsmen have ten years or more experience with Affordable and almost every craftsman is from the Michigan and NW Ohio region By the way, Affordable has financing programs to help families realize their dream project, and the truth that Affordable contributes to the program, too. Paul’s son Ken has joined the firm making him the second-generation Davis serving the region.
